You’ll cross vast stretches of the east aboard your graceful machine, taking in natural wonders while enjoying fascinating roads and embryonic panorama. The North East of India is an expedition through entire worlds of cultures and sceneries. And it tells the grand tale of mankind and nature and the bond that still exists between them. With Guwahati and Tawang as its corners, this adventure traverses the otherwise unperturbed routes between the two of the most fascinating states in India. Skirting forests, loping over hillocks, and crossing rare borders we experience fantastic scenery, adorned by man-made monasteries and villages lost in time. Tour Itinerary
Day 01: Arrive in Guwahati
Upon Arrival at Guwahati; meet our tour guide and driver. After a short introduction, you will transfer to hotel. Later, enjoy one hour Brahmaputra river cruise. Overnight stay at Guwahati.
Day 02: Guwahati to Tezpur Ride (approx. 180 km)
Today, right after breakfast, we will move out of Guwahati city on Royal Enfield Motorcycle and cross the fabulous Brahmaputra River using the renowned Saraighat bridge that will lead us to Tezpur. The roads are in excellent condition as the highway is smooth and well paved, which apparently present a good opportunity to get used to the weather of the region and also get acquainted with your motorcycle. Upon reaching Tezpur, transfer to your lodging for an overnight stay.
Day 03: Tezpur to Dirang Valley Ride (approx. 195.7 km)
Today we will move northwards towards the small but beautiful valley of Dirang in the West Kameng district of the state of Arunachal Pradesh. As we ride from Tezpur we will make a short stop at the Bhalukpong check point where you cross the state boundary and enter the state of Arunachal Pradesh. As any border town, Bhalukpong has a few shops scattered around where you can buy some refreshments. Further on, we will pass into Tenga and Bomdila as we travel deep into Dirang valley. Along the road, there are fascinating views of mountains covered in forests, while down below the Dirang River makes a nonchalant flow. Halt overnight at Dirang.
Day 04: Dirang Valley to Tawang Ride (approx. 128 km)
Today, we will head to Tawang via NH13. Situated at 3,048 meters, Tawang falls to the east of Arunachal Pradesh and almost borders the western part of Bhutan. The road takes us up to 4170m where we cross the Sela Pass. The pass carries the main road connecting Tawang with the rest of India. After crossing the Sela Pass we start descending down along a winding road that will ultimately take us to Tawang. Halt overnight at Tawang.
Day 05: Tawang – Sangetsar Tsho – Tawang Monastery Ride
We will spend the day wandering around Tawang. We will visit the beautiful Sangetsar Tsho, a lake located at 16,500 ft above sea level. We will also take the time visiting the monastery in Tawang. This is incidentally the second largest monastery in the world. It’s a beautiful monastery with exquisite architecture and a massive Buddha statue inside. Ride back to Tawang for overnight stay.
Day 06: Tawang to Bomdila Ride (approx. 171 km)
After breakfast, we will retrace our route and get back to Bomdila. Along the way, we will stop for a photography shot. Overnight halt at Bomdila.
Day 07: Bomdila to Nameri National Park Ride (Approx. 122 km)
Today, we head for Nameri, renowned for its National Park in the state of Assam. The park gives shelter to some of the most endangered animals in the Indian sub continent including the Royal Bengal Tiger and the Indian leopard. You will reach the camping site just outside of the National Park and you can stroll around the Kameng River before you retire to your tent for the night. Overnight stay.
Day 08: Nameri to Ziro Ride (approx. 270 km)
This day will involve a lot of riding. Somewhere between 7-8 hours of riding will take us to Ziro from Nameri. From Nameri which is in Assam, head again to Ziro in Arunachal Pradesh. Around 20 km from Nameriwe take left to find ourselves on the smooth NH52. Before we enter Arunachal Pradesh we come across the Kimin Checkpoint. From here we will soon reach Ziro which is the district headquarter of Subansiri district and is one of the oldest towns in Arunachal Pradesh. On reaching Ziro, transfer to hotel. Overnight stay at Ziro.
Day 09: Ziro to Daporijo Ride (approx. 170 km)
This part of the trip will involve a challenging and difficult ride along narrow meandering roads with really sharp bends. Winding Across Amazing landscapes that involve hillocks, forests and deserted pastures, we will move towards Daporijo. Some of most amazing tribes and their natural habitat can be seen along the way. On reaching Daporijo, move to your lodging for an overnight stay.
Day 10: Daporijo to Along Ride (110 km)
Today we will be heading towards Along, a small town that is located at the confluence of the Sipu and Siyom Rivers. Along is also known as Orange village and has today become a popular destination for tourists owing to its quaint location and stunning views all around. Upon reaching here, transfer to the lodging for an overnight stay.
Days 11: Along to Pasighat Ride (approx. 93 km)
Comparatively shorter than other days, the road to Pasighat follows the Brahmaputra river and is particularly serene. As headquarters of the East Siang District of Arunachal Pradesh, Pasighat is also considered the oldest town of Arunachal Pradesh, established by the British in 1911. Back then Arunachal Pradesh was only a conglomeration of tribal villages with very little contact with the outside world. On reaching Pasighat, enjoy a relaxing overnight stay in the campsite on the banks of a beautiful brooke.
Day 12: Pasighat to Roing Ride (85 km)
Today, we will be heading to Roing which is further east of Pasighat. We will first travel along the watershed area of the Brahmaputra River. Thereafter we will move past some villages which are inhabited by the minority Muslim population in this area. Further ahead, cross the Dibang River and some other small streams that flow through this region. Dry river beds, fords, mud sections and unpaved tracks make the drive challenging and exciting. On reaching Roing, transfer to your lodging to enjoy a rejuvenating sleep.
Day 13: Roing to Dibrugarh Ride (approx. 150 km)
Dibrugarh, a city of Assam is also known as the tea capital of India. Stretched across a vast expanse, this is a large bustling city which also has a quiet charm about it. While on the way to here, make a small stop in the town of Digboi. Established in 1901, the oldest operational oil refinery in the world is situated here. On reaching Dibrugarh, transfer to your lodging and enjoy a good night’s sleep.
Days 14: Dibrugarh to Kaziranga Ride (approx. 250 km)
The Kaziranga national park is home to the indigenous and rare one horned Rhino. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a visit to this beautiful place is a must. We take the National Highway 37 from Dibrugarh in the morning to travel for about 4 hours to reach the Kaziranga National Park. On arrival here, take an elephant ride to witness the various animals and floral species of the region. The overnight stay for today and the following day is arranged in the Kaziranga National Park area itself.
Day 15: Kaziranga to Guwahati Ride (approx. 190 km)
We will continue the journey by retracing our route first on National Highway 37 along the southern bank of the Brahmaputra River and then we move to Guwahati. Today is the last day of the ride with us. On reaching Guwahati, drop your Royal Enfield Motorcycle at the hotel parking. Check into the hotel. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 16: Departure from Guwahati
Our team will drop you to the airport for your onward flight to Delhi / Kolkata.
