Drukpath trek is the dream trek for adventurers wanting to experience higher Himalayan Mountains which are also best known for its fairly easy to moderate hike with altitude not exceeding 4500 meters. The best aspect about this trek is the gorgeous natural landscape of blue pine forests, fir, high ridges with dwarf rhododendrons, and pristine lakes without missing out on the beautiful ancient architectural sight of Lhakhangs (Monasteries), Dzongs (fortresses) and the local villages. Short detours from this path leads you to more sacred hidden lakes and fortresses while the background view of this trek remains the snow-capped Himalayan range including Mt. Gangkar Phunsum and Mt. Jomolhari.
The best time for this amazing visual journey on the mountains is between March-June or September – December. Although certain adrenaline junkies do embark on this journey during other times.

Trekking Itinerary to this easy yet beautiful trek:
Day 01: Arrive in Paro, Bhutan – Paro overnight stay
• Welcome to Bhutan if this is your first time. As landing in Paro is not short of a thrilling experience.
• Your guide will be waiting for your arrival pleasantly and welcome you to the Land of the Thunder Dragon. You will get your stay in Paro sorted as your guide will escort you to your hotel.
• Later, your guide will show you around Paro town followed by a visit to the picturesque Ta Dzong (watchtower), Rinpung Dzong (fortress) which are within few hundred metres and finally visit Kichu Temple which is about 5 kilometres away from the fortresses, and is known to be one of the oldest temple in Bhutan.
• The day ends with dinner and ample of rest for the upcoming trek.
Day 02: Paro – Jele Dzong (Trek Start)
7 km | 4-5 hours | 1090m ascent | CAMP ALTITUDE 3480m
• Today is the first day of our trek. We begin our adventure starting at 2590m as we commence our trekking by hiking up to Jele Dzong at 3475m.
• We will enjoy walk along a gentle path of about six miles in four to five hours. Once we climb up, you will see a panoramic of Mount. Jomolhari and other magnificent snow-capped peak in the distance if the day is clear.
• On the way, we can rest at an isolated fortress which is decently decorated with a Shakyamuni Statue (the historic Buddha) and has been recently restored.
• Our first night, we are at Jele Dzong that offers a great view of Paro valley surrounded by snowcapped mountains.
• Dinner and overnight stay/rest at the first camp.
Day 03: Jele Dzong – Jangchulakha
10 km | 4-5 hours | 310 m ascent | CAMP ALTITUDE 3770m
• Maximum walk of the day would be of around six miles thatwould take us approximately 4-5 hours through a steep climb until the trail moderates to an easier slope.
• The trail leads up through an alpine forest of dwarf rhododendron trees which would blooming in springtime.
• You may spot Yaks and witness Yak herders in their nomadic camps scattered around our camp site.
• Tonight, our camping site will be at 3,770m
• We rest, have dinner and stay overnight at the second camp.
Day 04: Jangchulakha – Jimilangtsho
11 km | 4-5 hours | 330m ascent | CAMP ALTITUDE 3870m
• We start early, since we will need time to relax towards in the afternoon to explore the nature nearby our campsite at Jimilangtsho.
• Our walking / hiking distance for today would be for approximately 5 hours today.
• The trail follows the ridge and on a clear day the view of the mountains and valleys are beautiful to look at.
• The campsite is close to the Lake Jimilangtsho. The lakes around this area including Jimilangstho are known for their giant-sized brown trout.
• We explore around our campsite, have dinner and rest overnight at the third camp.
Day 05: Jimilangtso – Simkotra Tsho
11 km | 4-5 hours | 820m ascent | CAMP ALTITUDE 4110m
• We are heading towards the final half of our trek, to Simkotra Tsho.
• We will be hiking for 4 hours covering six miles.
• The rugged trail takes us to the lake of Janyatso which is also a landmark that separates the trail to Dungtsho and the Druk Path trek.
• Our campsite is close to Simkotra Lake at an altitude of 11,500 feet.
• Relax and have dinner and rest overnight at the fourth camp.
Day 06: Simkotra – Phajoding – Thimphu
10 km | 4-5 hours | 130m ascent and 1130m descent
• As we bid farewell to this amazing journey along the mountains and lakes, this final day remains as an exciting experience.
• This is a nine-mile trek that will require a decent climb and a fairly steep descent to Thuji Dra in about 3 hours. If weather permits, you will have a spectacular view of Mount Gangkhar Phuensum,
• We descent further down to Phajoding Monatery just below Thuji Dra which overlooks the city of Thimphu, Bhutan’s Capital city.
• Meet and greet the monk students and continue to descent towards Sangaygang in Thimphu which will take about 3 hours from Phajoding.
• Our vehicle will pick us up from the Sangaygang base and transfer you to the hotel. Check into the hotel, enjoy hot shower and relax in the evening with a delicious farewell dinner.
Day 07: Thimphu – Paro (Departure)
According to your scheduled flight time, your guide and driver will drive you to Paro Airport from Thimphu for your departure.
