Motorcycle Adventure Tour to Upper Mustang, Nepal for 11 Days

HOME / Motorcycle Adventure Tour to Upper Mustang, Nepal for 11 Days

Embark on an unforgettable Motorcycle Adventure Tour to the enigmatic Upper Mustang, an undisturbed gem nestled on the border between Nepal and Tibet. This remote and mystically preserved land remained a restricted demilitarized zone until as recently as 1992 and was only opened to non-Nepali travellers fifteen years ago. Today, it remains one of the most pristine and culturally intact regions in the world, offering travellers an unparalleled journey through time and tradition. Ride a powerful 500cc Classic Enfield or the versatile 411cc Royal Enfield Himalayan across the rugged and breathtaking landscapes of the Tibetan Plateau. Picture yourself venturing through the vast, dusty, and treeless expanses—an adventure that challenges yet thrills the heart. These off-road trails, though rugged, will reward your spirit with memories that will last a lifetime. As you traverse the ancient Kaligandaki Gorge, the world’s deepest, the sheer magnitude of the surroundings will leave you in awe. Beyond the road, you will immerse yourself in the rich tapestry of the indigenous Buddhist community, whose lifestyle echoes the traditions of ancient Tibet. Encounter historic monasteries, explore ancient caves, and engage with local settlements where time seems to have stood still. This is more than just a motorcycle tour—it is a journey through the soul of a forgotten land, where every moment feels like a deep connection to history and spirituality. Prepare yourself for an adventure that will stir your wanderlust and leave an indelible mark on your soul. This is Upper Mustang, an experience unlike any other. In common parlance, Mustang refers to the arid, Tibet-like region at the northern end of the Kali Gandaki Valley, known to its inhabitants as Lo. This fascinating land boasts a rich and intricate history, making it one of the most compelling destinations in Nepal. The early history of Lo is veiled in legend, myth, and mystery, yet records trace notable events back as far as the 8th century. Among the historical figures associated with this mystical land, it is believed that the renowned Tibetan poet and saint, Milarepa (1040–1123), may have visited Lo during his spiritual journeys. The landscape of Upper Mustang resembles the Tibetan Plateau with its vast, wind-eroded hills stretching endlessly in hues of yellow and grey. The surreal beauty of the region is amplified by the great red fluted cliffs, especially in the lower parts of Upper Mustang, where more rain falls. These cliffs are composed of tiny round stones held together by mud, forming a striking contrast to the arid surroundings. Villages in Upper Mustang are scattered, often separated by hours of travel. From afar, they appear like mirages, shimmering in the barren landscape. However, during the summer months, after the crops have been sown, these villages transform into vibrant green oases, providing a startling and beautiful contrast to the desert-like terrain. This remarkable blend of legend, natural beauty, and cultural depth makes Mustang an enchanting destination for adventurers and seekers alike. Experiencing Bhutan’s rich culture and natural beauty up close. Highlights include riding through picturesque landscapes, visiting ancient monasteries, and enjoying the serene ambiance of Bhutanese countryside. This adventure is perfect for those looking to combine the joy of motorcycling tour with an exploration of Bhutan’s unique heritage.
